Known and loved by millions, Sherlock Holmes has inspired hundreds of writers in the mystery genre. Books such as A Study in Charlotte by Brittany Cavallaro and Moriarty by Anthony Horowitz were heavily inspired by this legendary series. Using the methods of his mentor, Dr. Joseph Bell, Arthur Conan Doyle was inspired by the famous doctor's deductive abilities during a diagnosis. After he followed his passion for writing, he used what he was taught in the form of an intelligent detective known as Sherlock Holmes that went on to change the world forever.

Many TV shows such as Elementary amd Sherlock have portrayed the famous sleuth on screen. Many movies were released as well, due to Sherlock Holmes' popularity and fame. Famous actors such as Benedict Cumberbatch portrayed Holmes in the hit series BBC Sherlock, as well as Robert Downey Jr, most famous for the movie Iron Man, who was Sherlock Holmes for the Movie triology of Sherlock Holmes, Sherlock Holmes 2: A Game of Shadows, and Sherlock Holmes 3. However, none of them compare to the original series of short stories and novels, telling the story of the famous detective Sherlock Holmes and his trusty sidekick John Watson.
